Why happiness is so important?
What is Happiness? It is a commodity that is being chased by every being in the world. We all want it but very few have it and even those who have it, they find it difficult to constantly remain in that state.
Let us look at the question of Happiness closely.
There are two kinds of happiness. One is what most of us chase. This is an inner state of the mind that is induced by our circumstances. When we get what we desire, we feel happy and when we don’t get what we expect, we feel unhappy, sad and anxious.
Thus this kind of happiness/ sadness is completely dependent on some external circumstance or object. We all know the state of happiness when we get a new car, a new friend, go on a vacation or have a new addition to the family! We may also feel happy when we get wealth, fame or acclaim. This kind of reason for happiness is why women go shopping! Sadness is the opposite side of this coin. We feel sad when we have a setback, when we may have lost a business or money or a friend or a loved one. (more…)
You are individual souls that have emerged from the soul of God. That means you are one family and what does one promise one’s child? Since God loves you thus, He promises you not only to give salvation but to supply all your needs. None of God’s promises has failed. The Bible, Joshua 23:14, has prophesied “…Not one word has failed of all the good things that the LORD your God promised concerning you. All have come to pass for you; not one of them has failed.”
Surrender is a key step in our journey towards self-realization. Most of us rebel against surrendering to anyone outside of ourselves. We have been brought up to believe that we have to strengthen our ego, gain skills and knowledge and by that we can progress in our goals. These goals could be spiritual or temporal. For us everything in life-including God-realization is a project. A project for which we have to work towards diligently.
Many of you are seekers of the divine kingdom. Your aim is to have a relationship with the only reality – that is God. But you find yourselves lost on the path and your urge to seek God does not seem to bear fruit. Many of you get disheartened at your constant failure. Some of you feel an inferiority complex – that you will never be able to find salvation.
